From January 1, 2022, the obligation to separate textile waste came into effect.

In 2020, Legislative Decree 116 established the obligation to carry out the separate collection of textile waste starting from 2022. “Package of directives on the circular economy” was adopted by the European Union which set objectives to reduce the production of waste and increase its recycling.

The recycling of textile waste, with consequent reduction of landfills, will become mandatory in 2025.
